Level Design Fundamentals
Project Type: Level Prototypes
Date: April 2024 - Present
Role: Level Designer
During my second semester of the first year I had an interest in learning level design so I spoke to the Unit Leader for Level Design Fundamentals (a module on the sister course of mine) and in my spare time completed their assignment of creating my own level which I am in the process of turning into a small taster game.
I am still working on this game in my spare time now adding in enemies and turning it into a small prototype level. This is involving a lot more blueprinting for both the character, the enemies and the interactions between all objects in the world.
What did I learn?
How to do level design and keep the sizings of levels right for the player to be in and the ratio to not be off
How to create blockouts of my levels before starting to actually make them
Gain a better understanding for blueprint in unreal engine 5
